About

My family and I moved to Yakima, WA from Seattle in late 2019, just before COVID. I lost my job in the early days of COVID so I had plenty of time to think. One of the things we noticed by living in Yakima was all of the fruit flies. They started to appear in August and were still around towards he end of September. You couldn’t set your glass of beer or wine for more than five minutes before you had lots of fruit flies swimming in your drink.

We tried using fly strips and vinegar traps; while they did work, they were disgusting to look at. I wanted to design something that would pass my wife’s design test that was pleasant to look at and was really good at catching fruit flies. and could sit on the kitchen counter similar to the Kleenex box. Although the idea of the trap isn’t necessarily new, I put my own twist on it and created something that works and the trap itself can last months due to the replaceable sticky triangle insert.
